What inspires Goober Productions?
I just watched his last lecture in Sept 2007 for the first time.. Carnegie Mellon posted it… amazing
I have an assignment I need to do for school talking about someone in my field of study that I admire. I was worried cuase I don’t know many people in my “field.” Then I had a light bulb.. Now I know how I can finish this task that will say more than just RIP.
I will be doing a quick little PP on Dr.Randy Pausch. He died June 25, 2008 from incurable pancreatic cancer. He was an inspiration to many! He was a professor of computer science. He is most recognized as a pioneer of virtual reality research including the Alice Program which brings animation to learning for kids. If you haven’t seen his last lecture watch it here. I laughed and learned. He blew me away. I will let you know when I finish my assignment. Perhaps, I will even post it for you. Also, if you are interested in watching it on TV, it is going to be on ABC at 10pm est Tue July 29, 2008. Make sure you gather your friends and family. This man is an inspiration!
btw.. one of his best quotes from his last lecture:
Its not about getting to your dreams. It is about having your dreams come to you.”

Someone sent me a link to check out this article on Web Designs Four Biggest Mistakes. Here is a bit of an excerpt:
Some web designs are truly so repulsive that they actually drive people away from the site and prevent them from returning. Both you and your web design company must avoid these situations at all costs. Otherwise you run the risk of allowing your reputation to be diminished or being labeled and avoided by clients and customers.
After I got done reading the four mistakes I said.. “Really.. you mean black on black isn’t a good thing?” Honestly people don’t forget common sense when you are creating your web site designs.
“Funny” content. Including humorous content is risky, at best. Some people may not understand your humor and will need to have it explained to them or, more likely, they will simply leave your site in search of something more interesting that they can actually understand.
While true… I can’t help it sometimes. In all seriousness, comedy can be great to break the ice, but also can isolate potential clients. That being said, if you can’t take a joke… please try!
Anyways, I thought it was an interesting read! Check it out!

Some of my friends shared this link of 74 free web design applications with me and I had to pass it onto you! Some of my favorites are Draw Anywhere, Letterpop, Color Palette Generator and GSig. They are all really simple and easy to use applications. They are all free, which is great for businesses that are just starting up. I am going to talk about some of these programs, but you can check out this link to find more applications I haven’t mentioned here!
Draw Anywhere
This applications lets you create, edit and share flowcharts and diagrams. It is particularly helpful for new businesses that are looking for financial backing and need to show your business plan. The best part about it is the fact you don’t need to download any software and you can access it from any web browser in the world (you must have flash though)!
Letterpop
Newsletters are a helpful way to keep your employees and customers up-to-date with news on or about the company or products. Letterpop is a simple template program that is easy to use and understand. You can even upload your own pictures to use. Yes it is free, but if you want more complex packages.. you will have to pay additional (its worth it!)
Color Palette Generator
This is a gift from the website gods! If you need help matching up your website’s color scheme’s with the pictures you upload.. then this generator is perfect help for you. All you do is enter the url for the picture and out pops the color scheme!

In my consent search for being a SEO goddess, I stummbled on this very insightful article by Erin Ferree:
Being in first place isn’t everything in the search engine race. But if you can get into the top 10 results, you’ll improve your traffic, get more interested prospects to your site, and probably close more sales. And there should be a medal for that! (Read More)
I completely agree with her analogy that it is all about ranking well, but not the best. As I always say, you need to put yourself in your potential clients shoes. What do you do when you search? How often do you actually click the first one on the list? I, honestly, never find what I want on my first try. Infact, just today I was looking for the Guest Musical Appearance on Dancing with the Stars. It took me 5 tries to find out that it was Ozomatli (fab!). It was frustrating and I was about to give up when I found it on page 1 (6th spot down the page) of my 5th search, “dancing with the stars”+”music”
What are your thoughts of the article? Do you have an article you want me to look at?
